I saw from your site you have been researching the Tanajkd Szepe lines. You have listed my husbands first bordeaux which came out of the breeding with Vazul and Suki. Have you been sucessful in researching Suki's line? We had one breeding with Tia and currently our male is missing one dog from that side to complete his AKC registry and take him out of FSS giving him full status. I have been searching for info on Geronimo's Catch Em If You Can for many months.

I started researching the Tanaka-Zepe line a couple of months ago. It's really hit and miss. When I get more time I will take the research to a next level. As you may know, some american breeders have mixed feelings about the European lines. Some of the lines have no DNA parentage proof. Some have contacted me and told me to stay away from these lines. LOL, I like to make my own decisions. Sometimes this takes me the long way around, but I am more informed towards the end decision.

Based on the outcome of health testing and adult temperament evaluation, this is when I will decide to perpetuate this line. I have found a number of European message boards, in which the Bordeaux's are discussed. The European's are starting to get a more involved with the American lines. From my background in Rotties, the Europeans are suspicious of the Americans intentions. In the past, American's have bred only for Phenotype (outward appearance) disregarding the good and bad behind the pedigree (genotype). I am hoping to affiliate with those who can help and assist me with genotype and pedigree research. As I am new to this breed I of course, have so much to learn.
Any help is much appreciated, Holly

There are some breeders out there who won't give me the time of day because I am also relatively new but there are a few who you can talk to who will give you honest answers and not try to manipulate you.

Our male came out of our breeding of Tia with Avalon's Commander Worf. Jo and Pres have been in the breed for a number of years and have always been very helpful to me. Their website is avalon-bordeaux.com.

Since moving to Arizona I have found Vi Harrison to be very knowledgeable and forthcoming as well. Her site is VigoreauxBordeaux.com.

We have been to some shows where the "top" breeders have been very unfriendly and unfortunately due to AKC recognition last year and a limited amount of time to qualify for Westminster a few even talked inexperienced people into bringing their dogues to shows to bump up the points without giving them any guidance.

I show in both AKC and UKC but prefer UKC as the focus is on the dog and not the handler. UKC judges look at the whole dog and whether or not it can perform the job it was bred for while still mantaining the breed standard.

Most of the breeders I am familiar with are either all about type or all about health. There has to be a balance and the difficulty comes in making those hard decisions about what is going to improve the breed.
